IV Ketamine Therapy Near Frisco and Whole Person Wellness

A physician explains what IV ketamine is used for, how to choose a clinic, and how Frisco residents can plan treatment at HILLMED in nearby Plano.

By Jerron C. Hill, M.D., Anesthesiologist and Founder of HILLMED

For nine years, I have provided IV ketamine infusions for Frisco residents, patients throughout the Dallas Metroplex, and people who live in cities several hours from our Plano office. Some of our patients have traveled from other states and other countries to receive care. Wherever patients come from, our commitment is the same: compassionate, physician-led treatment with an individualized plan for whole-person wellness.

HILLMED is an IV Ketamine Infusion and Wellness Center at 5944 W Parker Rd, Suite 400, in Plano. For Frisco residents, the drive to our office can be approximately 12–15 minutes, depending on your starting location, the time of day and traffic. We have provided IV ketamine therapy since 2017, with wellness aftercare that helps patients build on their progress beyond the infusion room.

What IV ketamine is used for

Ketamine has been FDA-approved as an anesthetic for decades. At much lower doses, given slowly through an IV, it is used off-label for several conditions that haven't responded well to other treatments. [1]

  • Depression, especially treatment-resistant depression and bipolar depression. An expert consensus statement in JAMA Psychiatry reviewed the evidence for ketamine in mood disorders and outlined safety standards for its use. [2]

  • Anxiety and PTSD. Read more about ketamine for persistent anxiety and ketamine for PTSD.

  • Chronic pain, including nerve pain, CRPS and some kinds of neck and back pain. Guidelines from three national anesthesia and pain medicine societies support IV ketamine for selected chronic pain conditions, with the strongest evidence for CRPS. [3]

Ketamine isn't right for everyone, and it isn't a first-line treatment for most people. That's why every patient starts with an evaluation.

How to choose a ketamine clinic

If you search for ketamine near Frisco, you'll find clinics, med spas and at-home programs. They aren't all the same. Before you choose, ask:

  1. How did the physician learn to use IV ketamine? Ask about supervised clinical training, hands-on experience with ketamine, individualized dosing, airway management and emergency care. Anesthesiologists and emergency medicine physicians commonly gain experience with ketamine during residency, and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) receive anesthesia training through their graduate education and supervised clinical practice. Appropriately trained clinicians in other specialties may also administer ketamine. Ask specifically about experience providing infusions for your condition. [3]

  2. How long have they practiced? Ask both how long the physician has practiced medicine and how many years they have provided IV ketamine infusions for mood disorders or chronic pain. At HILLMED, I bring more than 35 years of anesthesia experience and have provided IV ketamine therapy since 2017.

  3. Who evaluates me and who is present during the infusion? At HILLMED, I evaluate every patient and personally start each IV.

  4. How are patients monitored? Ask who monitors you during the infusion and recovery, which vital signs are checked, and who is available to respond to an emergency. Your blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen level should be monitored, with assessment of breathing and level of alertness. Ask how the team determines when you are ready for discharge. [2, 3]

  5. Is the treatment given in a medical office? I don't advocate at-home IV ketamine. Our article on at-home vs. IV ketamine explains why.

  6. Is there a plan beyond the infusions? Ask how the clinic supports ongoing wellness. At HILLMED, our wellness aftercare program brings together stress management, mindfulness, nutrition, exercise and restorative sleep as part of an individualized, multimodal approach.

  7. What are the clinical results? Ask how the clinic measures improvement in symptoms, daily functioning and quality of life, how long benefits are sustained, and how follow-up care supports that progress. Ask about the physician’s experience treating your specific condition. At HILLMED, I have observed sustainable progress in patients who combine IV ketamine with our multimodal wellness aftercare program. Our Google reviews also offer patients’ perspectives on our compassionate, physician-led care.

As an anesthesiologist, I have spent more than 35 years managing blood pressure, breathing and heart rate in the operating room. That experience shapes how I dose and monitor every infusion.

What to expect at your first infusion

Your first step is a complimentary teleconference consultation, so you don't need to drive to Plano just to find out whether ketamine is a reasonable option. We review your history, current medications and past treatments, and I explain how the infusions work.

On treatment days:

  • Infusions for depression, anxiety and PTSD typically last 90 minutes to 2 hours. Infusions for chronic pain last about 4 hours.

  • You'll rest in a comfortable recliner and stay for a short monitored recovery afterward.

  • You can't drive yourself home. Plan for a trusted adult to drive you back to Frisco, and keep the rest of the day light.

Our guide to your first ketamine infusion covers the day step by step.

Planning treatment from Frisco

Many patients start with a series of infusions over a few weeks. A few practical tips:

  • Schedule around traffic. When booking your series, discuss appointment times that fit your work, family responsibilities and travel plans. The drive from Frisco may take about 12–15 minutes, depending on your starting location and the time of day; allow additional time during heavy traffic.

  • Line up your driver for the whole series. Knowing who will drive you each time makes it easier to stay on schedule.

  • Ask about payment options early. We provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement and accept HSA and FSA funds, CareCredit and payment plans. See insurance and payment options for IV ketamine.

Wellness aftercare to support sustainable results

At HILLMED, our care continues beyond the infusion. In my clinical experience, patients can achieve sustainable results when IV ketamine is supported by a consistent wellness aftercare program. I have observed lasting progress in patients who combine their treatment with a multimodal approach to mental and physical health.

Our aftercare program encompasses five pillars: stress management, mindfulness, nutrition, exercise and restorative sleep. We help patients translate these principles into practical daily habits that support whole-person wellness. When appropriate, we coordinate with their other treating clinicians so the plan fits their ongoing mental health and pain care.

My philosophy is that prevention is better than cure. Addressing stress, sleep, movement and nutrition gives patients a foundation for maintaining progress and quality of life. Follow-up care allows us to reassess their needs and discuss additional treatment when clinically appropriate.

Compassionate physician-led care

Our Google reviews reflect patients’ experiences of our commitment to compassionate, physician-led care. We encourage prospective patients to read them to learn how others describe their care at HILLMED.
